PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a membrane and an electrode assembly for a solid polymer fuel cell in a target shape, provided with electrode catalyst layers having excellent membrane thickness uniformity on both surfaces of a polymer electrolyte membrane, of low interfacial resistance, at low cost and in high efficiency without using a subsidiary material such as a film.SOLUTION: A catalyst layer is formed by applying a catalyst ink on a transcribing roll surface and drying a solvent component in the catalyst ink layer. A catalyst layer with a bonding layer is formed by applying a bonding ink on a catalyst layer surface and drying a solvent component in the bonding ink layer. The catalyst layer with the bonding layer is pressed to a protrusion formed on an excess application liquid removing roll surface in a predetermined pattern and an excess portion of the catalyst layer with the bonding layer corresponding to the protrusion is removed by transcribing from a transcribing roll to the excess application liquid removing roll. By pressing the catalyst layer with the bonding layer remaining on the transcribing roll without being removed on a polymer electrolyte membrane, the catalyst layer is transcribed on the polymer electrolyte membrane surface through the bonding layer. |
