PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device and a transfer method, which can replace a supply roll without stopping equipment, thereby improving productivity.SOLUTION: A transfer device comprises: buffer rollers 322A and 322B which hold a belt-like cell material W to be fed from a supply roll 110 on which the cell material W used as a material for an electrode or a separator is wounded, so as to be carried, the rollers capable of extending/contracting a conveyance path by a change in positions thereof; and a buffer part clamp 323 which is arranged on an upstream side of a conveying direction of the cell material W from the buffer rollers 322A and 322B and is capable of fix the cell material W. The buffer rollers 322A and 322B can be changed in positions thereof so that the conveyance path is shorten, while the cell material W is fixed by the buffer part clamp 323. |
