PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cassette which permits the kind of a tape to be identified by seeing the appearance of the tape cassette.SOLUTION: A tape cassette 30 stores a printing tape in a cassette case 31. An arm 34 guiding the travel of the printing tape and discharging it from an opening 34a is provided in front of the cassette case 31. An arm identification portion 800 showing the kind of the tape of the tape cassette 30 is provided in a position adjacent to the opening 34a in the arm front 35 of the arm 34. One face of the printing tape discharged from the opening 34a is exposed at a front of the tape cassette 30 permitting the arm identification portion 800 to be seen. An engaging hole 820 as a slit-like through-hole extending left to right is formed at the upper right side of the arm identification portion 800.
