PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine presence/absence of a manuscript by reading processing to more surely detect presence/absence of the manuscript.SOLUTION: In a scanner unit 30, a reading processing part 61 counts the number of shift interruption when a transfer control part 64 performs transfer processing of a manuscript and the reading processing part 61 performs reading processing. It is determined that a manuscript is present when a manuscript end part is detected by the reading processing by the time the number of shift interruption reaches a predetermined number, and it is determined that no manuscript is present when the manuscript end part is not detected by the reading processing by the time the number of shift interruption reaches a predetermined number and transfer of the manuscript from the reading processing part 61 is stopped. At this time, light emission of a light source unit 35 and drive of an ADF unit 44 are synchronized with each other to perform detection processing of the manuscript end part. The ADF unit 44 does not have a manuscript detection sensor, detects the end part of a manuscript S by the reading processing, and stops the transfer processing by guiding of the reading processing part 61 side. |
