The present invention pertains to a battery pressing apparatus and a battery pressing method. The battery pressing apparatus presses a battery cell (10) having electrode terminals drawn out from an end of a battery element to the outside of an outer covering, and an insulating member that is attached to the electrode terminals on the inside of the outer covering and prevents short circuiting of the electrode terminals, with a pressing member (72) from the lamination direction of the battery element in a range in which the insulating member inside the outer covering is not pressed. The present invention presses the battery cell in a range in which the insulating member is not pressed, and therefore enables air or gas etc. inside the battery elements to be removed, and enables damage to the surface of the outer covering due to the pressing member to be minimized, without applying unnecessary pressure to parts, and further enables short circuiting of the electrode terminals due to deformation of or damage to the insulating member to be prevented. |
