[Problem] To provide: a filter which contains a built-in capsule, said capsule being filled with a cigarette flavor-improving liquid capable of improving the flavor such as taste, fragrance and richness of cigarettes; a cigarette provided with the filter; and a cigarette substitute provided with the filter. [Solution] A cigarette provided with a filter (1) according to the present invention, said filter (1) containing a built-in capsule, is configured from chopped tobacco leaves (2), a wrapping paper (3), a filter (4) and a tip paper (5). The filter (4) contains an easily breakable built-in capsule (6) consisting of a coating film (7) and a cigarette flavor-improving liquid (8) comprising a natural cacao extract, said cigarette flavor-improving liquid (8) being enclosed in the coating film (7). When a smoker holds the filter part between fingers and crushes the capsule (6), the coating film (7) is broken and the cigarette flavor-improving liquid (8) oozes out into the filter (4). Thus, the characteristic taste, fragrance and richness of cigarettes can be imparted and improved.
