SRS POWER CONTROL FOR COORDINATED SCHEDULING IN TDD HETEROGENEOUS NETWORKS

Enhanced power control for scheduling in a time division duplex (TDD) heterogeneous network is disclosed in which sounding reference signals (SRS) transmitted by a pico user equipment (UE) to its pico base station are used by the macro base station in estimating the channel to the pico UE. The macro base station uses the estimated channel to schedule its served macro UEs. In selected aspects, the pico UE determines the path-loss transmission power to the macro base station and transmits at least one of its SRS using an enhanced power that accounts for the path-loss. In additional aspects, the macro base station schedules macro UEs to reduce interference during the times when the pico UE transmits SRS. The stronger power of the SRS or reduced interference allows the macro base station to obtain a more accurate channel estimation, which results in improved interference cancelation.
