<p>This solid-object detection device is provided with the following: a camera (10) that is mounted on a vehicle and images the area behind said vehicle; solid-object detection units (33, 37) that detect a solid object in a right-side detection region (A1) or left-side detection region (A2) behind the vehicle on the basis of image information from the camera (10); a solid-object determination unit that determines whether or not the solid object detected by the solid-object detection units (33, 37) is another vehicle (VX) located in the right-side detection region (A1) or left-side detection region (A2); a similarity-degree computation unit (38) that computes a degree of similarity between image information from the right-side detection region (A1) behind the vehicle and image information from the left-side detection region (A2) behind the vehicle; and a control unit (39) that outputs control commands to the various means so as to prevent the detected solid object from being identified as another vehicle (VX) if the degree of similarity computed by the similarity-degree computation unit (38) is greater than or equal to a prescribed level.</p> |
