摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium alloy with a high fracture elongation, excellent in cold workability.SOLUTION: A titanium alloy is characterized by including a &bgr; phase comprised of crystals of a body-centered cubic lattice structure (bcc) at an amount of at least 50 volume% in terms of a volume ratio relative to the whole, and by including 500 to 6,000 ppm of hydrogen (H) in a mass ratio relative to the whole. The titanium alloy may be in a single phase comprising the &bgr; phase or may be in a mixed phase comprising an α phase and the &bgr; phase. The titanium alloy can be obtained, for example, by a production method comprising a hydrogen introduction step of exposing a raw material of the titanium alloy comprising the &bgr; phase as a primary phase to a hydrogen atmosphere where the atmospheric temperature is 100 to 500°C and the partial pressure of hydrogen is 0.01 to 100 MPa to introduce hydrogen into the raw material of the titanium alloy. The titanium alloy contains hydrogen in a relatively large amount, but does not cause hydrogen embrittlement, and shows a very high ductility so long as the amount of the hydrogen contained therein is within a suitable range, contrary to conventional technical knowledge.
