The vertical axis wind turbine (1) has several rotors (3a,3b,5a,5b,7a,7b) which are connected with respect to a tower (2) via carrier elements. The wind guide plates (4a,4b,6a,6b,8a,8b) are mounted on the carrier elements to guide the direction of wind with respect to rotors. The tower is provided with a covering in the region of the rotors. The hydraulic motor is provided for rotating the covering opposite to the tower.
