Disclosed is an inhibitor of the reduction of life cycle of a redox shuttle additive that undergoes oxidation-reduction cycling, the inhibitor being at least of one compound selected from the group consisting of vinylene carbonates, ethylene carbonates, cyclic sulfites and unsaturated sultones.
