The detector has a comparing section for comparing down potential voltage of a fuel injector (1) with reference voltage. A microcomputer (11) detecting air fuel ratio lean abnormality if the microcomputer determines that injection abnormality occurs. The microcomputer detects a closed valve abnormality for continuously closing the fuel injector. The microcomputer detects fat abnormality if the microcomputer determines that the injection abnormality occurs. The microcomputer detects an open valve abnormality for continuously opening the fuel injector. An independent claim is also included for an injection control unit.
