The hydro-pneumatic adjusting element (1) has an oil-filled cylinder (2) provided with a piston rod (10), a piston rod seal portion, a piston and a piston bypass portion. The piston bypass portion is formed and arranged such that the passage of liquid is prevented. A liquid storage portion is provided between the piston and the piston rod for wetting of the piston rod seal portion.
