PURPOSE: A device for projecting an image on a 3D model and a method thereof are provided to project various images on the 3D model and display the same by detecting geographic information for depth and a shape of the 3D model, thereby manufacturing dynamic animation environment. CONSTITUTION: A control computer(60) stores a lot of image information which is projected on a 3D model(10) through an image projector(30). The control computer converts photographing data of the 3D model inputted from a 3D camera(20) into a geographic information color. When the amount of change between the photographing data and previously stored photographing data exceeds predetermined reference data, the control computer generates a unit corresponding to geographic information for depth and a shape of a position and projects an image including the converted color and the unit on the 3D model through the image projector.
