The invention provides an image-pickup device configured to perform vertical-dark-shading correction with increased precision independently of photographing conditions and/or a photographing environment, including: an image-pickup element having an effective-pixel part including several pixel parts which are not shielded from light and a light-shielding-pixel part including several pixel parts shielded from light; a signal-processing unit configured to set the reference level of output signals transmitted from the effective-pixel part; and a control unit configured to switch between several areas which are used to set the reference level and provided in the light-shielding-pixel part based on the photographing conditions and/or environmental conditions. |
