A power generation apparatus (28, figure 1) comprising a renewable energy source of electricity 20 such as a wind turbine, and a regulating means for regulating the renewable energy source 22. The regulating means may comprise an inverter. In the power generation system, an electrical connection 26 is made between the regulating means 22 and an electrical circuit 16. The electrical circuit comprises an electricity meter 18 interposed between a mains power supply 14 and a ring main 16 of a property 12 or utility 34, such as a street light, wherein the electrical connection 26 is made on the mains power supply side of the electricity meter 18. In an alternative embodiment the power generating system may be used in a domestic situation, whereby the power generating means provides power to the home but also provides power back to the mains when excess power is generated (figure 1). |
