[Class 79 (i) ] In a vehicular endless track in which U-section shoes are secured to the track elements, the side flanges of the shoes are provided with laterally projecting guides adapted to receive leg portions of tread supports and locking means are provided for detachably securing the tread supports to the shoes, the guides on the shoes project laterally beyond the leg portions of the supports and the locking means so as to protect them. As shown in Fig. 2 the locking means is formed by the leg portions of each support 5 being each provided with an aperture 9 which is bridged by a cross bar 12 secured to the leg portion. The bar 12 is adapted to engage a cross bar 11 secured to the guides 3, 4 secured to the shoe 2. In another form of the locking means, Fig. 3, the side flanges of the shoe 2 are each provided with a projection 10 adapted to engage the aperture 9. In a further form, Fig. 4, the locking means is formed by each leg portion carrying by means of a spring 13 carrying a cross bar 14 adapted to enter the aperture 9 and also to engage the lower edges of lugs 15 formed on the guides 3, 4. The tread support may be formed with calks 6 or the leg portions may be interconnected by a plate 7t or by snow chains. The tread support is supported by a carrier member, for example a rubber cushion 8, on the shoe. The tread supports are preferably secured on the shoes adjacent that link-pin 16 which, during forward movement of the vehicle, first reaches and leaves the ground. Means, such as a depression 18 engaging a groove 19, or a stud 20 coacting with a bore 21, may be provided on the shoes 2 and on link straps 1 in combination with the shoes fastening means to facilitate easy replacement of the shoes.
