<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vanadium oxide phosphor which emits white light under ultraviolet-near ultraviolet radiation as excitation light. <P>SOLUTION: The phosphor comprises a vanadium oxide represented by compositional formula: A<SB>x</SB>V<SB>y</SB>O<SB>z</SB>, wherein when y is 1 and z is 2.9-3.1, x is 0.8-1.2 and A denotes one or more selected from the group consisting of K, Rb and Cs; and when y is 1 and z is 3.4-3.6, x is 0.9-1.1 and A denotes one or more selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr and Ba. A may contain one or more selected from the group consisting of Li, Na and NH<SB>4</SB>. The phosphor may be activated with at least one of Mn<SP>2+</SP>, Sb<SP>3+</SP>, Bi<SP>3+</SP>and rare earth ions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
