PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically detect an IP address of an instrument linked to a network and to easily determine whether or not the instrument is a target to be connected. SOLUTION: A device includes: a search address generating means 201 for generating a search address for searching the instrument connected to the network by use of its own network logic address; a physical address collecting means 202 for collecting a network physical address of the instrument correlating with this search address; an address determining means 203 for determining whether or not the collected network physical address satisfies the predetermined extraction condition; and an output means 204 for outputting the search address as a network logic address corresponding to the network physical address when it is determined by the address determining means 203 that the network physical address satisfies the extraction condition.
