A method of packaging milk in a sterile container of fibrous material comprises heating the flat blank from which the container is to be formed until it is sterile, forming it into an openended container, filling the container and closing its open end. Alternatively, a body blank and two end closure blanks are sterilized by heating, the body blank and one end closure blank are folded and sealed together to form an open-ended container and the other end-closure blank is formed into a cap which is sealed to the container after filling. The blanks may be coated on their inner surfaces with a synthetic thermoplastic material, e.g. the copolymer of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate, which is impervious to liquids and bacteria and may be subjected to high surface temperatures for short periods without being adversely affected.
