PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging device which can eliminate noise while coping with a high speed and ultrahigh resolution of the solid-state imaging device, and to provide a method for driving the same. SOLUTION: The operation from reset of pixels to the subtraction processing of noise by a CDS circuit is performed within a 1 horizontal scanning (1H) period 61, signal processing subsequent to the CDS, e.g. A-D conversion is performed within the next 1H period 62, and a pixel signal is read to the horizontal signal line. The processing speed of the circuit can be limited by performing pipeline processing, i.e. by performing the operation from the reset of pixels in the next row to the subtraction processing of noise by a CDS circuit simultaneously while the pixel signal in some row is subjected to A-D conversion within some 1H period. Furthermore, a time when noise is sampled by the CDS circuit can be shortened sharply by connecting an acceleration transistor to the input of the CDS circuit and presetting the input to an appropriate voltage level.
