PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium thin sheet for flattening having excellent formability, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A magnesium alloy having a composition comprising, by weight, 3.5 to 8.0% aluminum (Al), 0.1 to 0.5% manganese (Mn) and ≤0.5% calcium (Ca), and the balance magnesium (Mg) with inevitable impurities is subjected to rolling treatment at a rolling ratio in the range of >35% and also in the temperature range of ≤300°C, and the magnesium alloy is formed, so as to be the shape of a thin sheet with a sheet thickness of ≤3 mm and a crystal grain size of ≤10 μm.
