(Class 65 (ii)] A joint comprising a housing 10 and a ball-headed pin 16 is characterised in that the ball-head 18 of the pin has attached thereto a cap 19 having external dimensions greater than the diameter of the ball-head, whereby should the ball-head be pulled through its seat in the housing the cap will prevent separation of the housing and pin. The ball-head is seated in a hard-metal sleeve 132 press-fitted into the housing while the cap, which is formed integral with the ball-head and comprises a portion of a sphere concentric with the latter, seats in a member 21 adapted to slide in the sleeve. A spring 23 is interposed between the cap-seating member and a cover 24 held in position by a circlip 25. A lubricator 27 and a dust cover 30 are provided. In a modification the skirt of the sleeve is omitted and the cap-seating member slides in the bore of the housing. In a further modification the cap is made detachable from the ball-head. |
