<p>The invention relates to a device and a method in a vehicle having a processing unit, at least one operating unit (2, 3, 4) and one display unit (5) for displaying menu fields (6 to 10). The aim of the invention is to structure such a device and method such that said device and method may be operated by the driver in a very simple fashion without the driver being distracted from traffic events. The invention is characterized in that the processing unit is structured such that, upon the activation of a menu field (7), said menu field may be shown as an input and display field (13, 14), wherein one character in a list of a plurality of characters is shown in the input field (13) and, upon activation of the operating unit (2), the character is replaced by a different character and incorporated into the display field (14) by activation of the operating unit (2) and/or a function (Figs. 25, 26, 27) is or may be activated via or in the processing unit. The aim of the invention is also attained by a corresponding method. The advantages of the invention substantially lie in the fact that handling is identical for the input of information and the execution of functions, that the distribution of the fields on the display unit is extensively maintained, and that only two manually operated activation keys are needed for the invention.</p> |
