PURPOSE: A vibrating device and an oscillator are provided to support a vibrating strip in a cantilevered manner by a connecting portion connected to a terminal electrode, thereby minimizing deterioration of frequency characteristics with respect to a change in ambient temperature. CONSTITUTION: A vibrating device comprises a lid member (4) bonded to the base member (3) to form a cavity (5); and a vibrating strip (6) configured to be housed in the cavity. The vibrating strip includes a thick center portion (7) and an outer peripheral portion (8) thinner than the center portion. The center portion includes exciting electrodes (9a,9b) configured to excite vibrations. The outer peripheral portion includes terminal electrodes (10a,10b). First and second connecting portions (12a,12b) are connected respectively to the first and second terminal electrodes and support the vibrating strip in a cantilevered manner. |
