PURPOSE: A method for updating a device with an up-to-date service category table and a device for the same are provided to enable the device to obtain a service category table required to effectively find a service. CONSTITUTION: A device-to-device (D2D) connection part (320) receives a broadcasting signal from second devices positioned around a first device. The broadcasting signal includes version information of a service category table to check supported D2D-based target services. A control part (340) analyzes the version information of the service category table and the intention of providing the service category table. The control part determines a corresponding device having a service category table with a higher version than the service category table version of the first device among second devices having the intention of providing the service category table.
