PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a negative electrode active material improved in initial discharge capacity and cycle life characteristics; a method of preparing the negative electrode active material; a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery including the negative electrode active material; and a lithium secondary battery including the negative electrode.SOLUTION: A negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery includes a Si-Al-Fe alloy represented by the following formula 1. The Si-Al-Fe alloy includes an Si phase and a phase including Si, Al, and Fe in a ratio of atomic percentages of about 3:3:2: xSi-yAl-zFe <chemical formula 1>, in the formula, 50 at%≤x≤90 at%, 5 at%≤y≤30 at%, 5 at%≤z≤30 at%, and x+y+z=100 at% are satisfied. |
