PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for purifying exhaust from an internal combustion engine such as a gasoline engine and a diesel engine, capable of being shortened in the whole length.SOLUTION: A purification member 1 is mounted in a cylindrical shell 4 through which exhaust passes to purify the passing exhaust. An exhaust emission control device includes a C-shaped stopper 12 having a cut part, a buffer material 10 is mounted on the purification member 1 side of the stopper 12, the buffer material 10 is brought into contact with the purification member 1, and the stopper 12 is expanded to the radial direction outside to be brought into contact with an inner periphery of the cylindrical shell 4. Then, the stopper 12 is welded to the cylindrical shell 4. The buffer material 10 is a wire mesh and the buffer material 10 is spot-welded to the stopper 12. The stopper 12 is formed into an L-shape in cross section that has a cylinder section 12a facing the inner periphery of the cylindrical shell 4 and a flange section 12b projecting from an end of the cylinder section 12a toward the radial direction inside. An outer diameter of the cylinder section 12a is formed to be smaller than an inner diameter of the cylindrical shell 4, is expanded to the radial direction outside and is brought into contact with the inner periphery of the cylindrical shell 4. |
