PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope having a function of detecting an abnormality in transmission of drive force between a pulling member and a drive section, and controlling to stop the driving when the abnormality is detected.SOLUTION: An endoscope has: an inserting section 2 having a bending section 2b; a pulling member 8 for bending the bending section; an operation member 5 for inputting force magnitude required to pull the pulling member; a drive section 12 for generating a drive force to bend the bending section by pulling the pulling member; a pulling member installed section 9 capable of being switched from a state where the drive force is not transmitted to the pulling member to a state where the drive member is transmitted to the pulling member, interlockingly with the pulling operation of the pulling member; a detecting section 15b for acquiring the drive force transmission state transmitted from the drive section to the pulling member installed section, as drive force transmission state information; and a control section 15 for determining whether the drive force transmission state is abnormal or not by using the drive force transmission state information acquired by the detecting section, and if the abnormality is detected, outputting a control signal for stopping the drive section to the drive section. |
