PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve tracking performance by using an AF evaluation value appropriate for tracking.SOLUTION: A tracker is equipped with: an imaging unit which picks up a subject; a focus evaluation value acquisition area setting unit which has an area including a plurality of areas for acquiring a plurality of features for tracking the subject in image data acquired by imaging with the imaging unit, and sets a focus evaluation value acquisition area for acquiring a focus evaluation value for the subject; a tracking unit which tracks the subject; and a tracking prohibition area setting unit which makes, when a tracking area including the subject is specified, the tracking area into the area for prohibiting tracking by the tracking unit to a non-specified area except the specified tracking area on the basis of the focus evaluation value in the focus evaluation value acquisition area.
