PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position measuring device for determining positions of two relatively movable objects, in which diversified interface identification is further improved in data transmission.SOLUTION: The position measuring device generates data in a form of a position measurement value when being operated for use and is connected to a processing unit 2 via a data transmission channel 3 in order to transmit the data. In this case, the position measuring device 1 can be connected to the processing unit 2 selectively either via a first wire pair (31, 32) or via the first wire pair (31, 32) and at least one further pair of wires (33, 34). The position measuring device 1 has a detection unit 4 arranged therein, and the presence or absence of the at least one further wire pair (33, 34) can be detected by using the detection unit 4 when the position measuring device 1 is connected to the processing unit 2 via the data transmission channel 3. |
