PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material testing machine capable of appropriately performing a material test with respect to a thin plate-like test piece even when a general material testing machine is used.SOLUTION: A test piece holding mechanism 20 includes: first and second front surface side abutment members; first and second rear surface side abutment members; a first connection member 35; a second connection member 36; and an energization unit 37 for energizing the first and second front surface side abutment members and the first and second rear surface abutment members in a mutually contiguous direction. The first and second front surface abutment members are constituted by grip tooth parts for gripping the end of a test piece and pressure parts for pressurizing the center of the test piece. The first and second rear surface abutment members are constituted by grip tooth parts for gripping the end of the test piece and pressure parts for pressurizing the center of the test piece. |
