PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing changing device which resolves unnecessary movement other than at the time of locking of a locking mechanism that holds a camshaft at a middle position within a specific angle range against a housing rotor.SOLUTION: A valve timing changing device is provided with a housing rotor 30 and a locking mechanism 40 which locks a vane rotor fixed on a camshaft at a middle position against the housing rotor. The locking mechanism includes a lock cam 41 which rotates in an integrated manner with the camshaft, a lock lever 42 which is supported by the housing rotor, engages with the lock cam to restrict the lock cam rotating from the middle position to an advance side and a retard side, and releases the lock by disengaging from the lock cam by a specific releasing force after an engine starts, and an energizing member 43 which applies the energizing force to engage and lock the lock lever to the lock cam in a state that the releasing force does not apply. By this useless motion of the lock lever can be resolved. |
