PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic control device capable of surely detecting an abnormality of a microcomputer when controlling drive of a driving object.SOLUTION: A microcomputer 11 has a CPU 21 and a CPU 22 which execute computation related to drive of a motor 80, and controls the drive of the motor 80 on the basis of the computation result of the CPU 21. A comparator 16 is capable of detecting an abnormality of the microcomputer 11. The microcomputer 11 determines normality/abnormality of the comparator 16 by monitoring an output signal from the comparator 16 before the microcomputer 11 starts the drive control of the motor 80 after energization. An ECU 10 makes the microcomputer 11 generate a quasi-abnormality before the microcomputer 11 starts the drive control of the motor 80 after energization to the microcomputer 11. If the comparator 16 detects the quasi-abnormality of the microcomputer 11, the microcomputer 11 determines "The comparator 16 is in order". The microcomputer starts the drive control of the motor 80 upon the determination of "The comparator 16 is in order".
