PURPOSE: A precoding apparatus and method for LTE uplink transmission are provided to reduce calculations of discrete Fourier transform (DFT) into zero. CONSTITUTION: A rapid transform precoding apparatus (150) comprises a zero padding unit (152), a fast Fourier transform (FFT) unit, and interpolation unit (156). The zero padding unit allocates zero to input samples except for layer-mapped DFT input symbol columns after setting a size of FFT as a predetermined number. The FFT unit performs FFT calculations with the symbol columns inputted from the zero padding unit. The interpolation unit estimates a result of DFT by interpolation of the outputs of the FFT unit, and outputs the result of DFT.
