PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device which, without requiring character input, enables easy finding and checking of desired information with a similar sensation of turning over pages of a document.SOLUTION: An electronic device associates, when a dictionary is selected, an entry-word range from a spearhead entry word to an end entry word of the selected dictionary with a range between upper and lower ends of a scroll pad 17 so as to perform initial setting. In the electronic device, when two points t1 and t2 on the scroll pad 17 are touched, a range from a spearhead entry word Ms to an end entry word Me, which correspond to the touched positions of the two points t1 and t2 with respect to a total length of the pad 17, is calculated to be display-guided, and besides, an entry word range associated with the range between upper and lower ends of the pad is updated to be set, and then an entry-word list Lm containing entry words of the number of words which can be displayed from the spearhead entry word in the set entry-word range is displayed. When a desired entry word, which is being displayed in the entry-word list Lm, is selected by means of an inversion cursor Cu, explanation information as to the selected entry word is read out of the selected dictionary so as to be displayed. |
