PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device capable of easily and rapidly setting a format concerning a plurality of format items, and to provide a method for controlling the printing device.SOLUTION: A tape printing device 1 includes: a format parameter designation part 30a designating format parameters concerning one or more format items; a ROM 83 storing a plurality of format files being an aggregate of each of the designated format parameters; a text editing part 81a editing a text being an object to be printed; a print instruction part 30b performing the print instruction of the text; a format file selection part 30c selecting any format file from among the plurality of format files stored in the ROM 83 after the instruction of the print; a print data generation part 81c reflecting the selected format file on the text; and a print head 7 printing the generated print data on a tape. |
