The microprocessor (MP2) has a CPU to generate a signature and write a binary word with the signature in memories (MEM1, MEM2, MEM3). Another signature with the binary word is checked when reading another binary word in the memories. A protective action (ER) of the memories is triggered if the signatures are invalid. The CPU executes an instruction to write the former binary word with an invalid signature such that the protective action is initiated with subsequent reading of the memories by the CPU. An independent claim is also included for a method for protection of a microprocessor.
