PURPOSE: A multimedia device and a control method thereof are provided to supply a convenient user interface by connecting a data pass designated according to a kind of a sub device through a switching module when the sub device is connected with a USB port. CONSTITUTION: External device interfaces(272,274) are connected with a sub device(280) included in a first group or a second group. A switching module(270) receives data from the external device interfaces. A controller(260) transmits data of the sub device included in the first group to a module(210) performing a first function by controlling the switching module. The controller transmits data of the sub device included in the second group to a module(230) performing a second function by controlling the switching module.
