PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide antibodies that specifically bind to a toxin of Clostridium difficile (C. difficile), antigen binding portions thereof, and methods for making and using the antibodies and antigen binding portions thereof.SOLUTION: There are provided: antibodies or antigen binding portions thereof specifically bind to Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) toxin A (toxin A) or toxin B (toxin B); methods for treating C. difficile disease of the antibody or antigen binding portion thereof, inhibiting C. difficile-mediated disease in vivo and preventing from or inhibiting C. difficile-mediated colitis in a subject; preventing from or inhibiting antibiotic-associated colitis in a subject; preventing from or inhibiting C. difficile-mediated pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) in a subject; preventing from or inhibiting C. difficile-mediated diarrhea in a subject; and inhibiting relapse of C. difficile-mediated disease.
