PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic synthetic fiber that has excellent hydrophilic properties and processability, and is less irritating to skin.SOLUTION: The hydrophilic synthetic fiber is obtained by depositing a treatment agent for a fiber on a surface of the synthetic fiber, which contains (a) an amino acid-based surfactant, (b) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (poly)glycerol, a (poly) glycerol fatty acid ester and an alkylene oxide adduct of (poly)glycerol, and (c) a lactate.
