PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately track a specific subject even if a plurality of specific subjects move around in any directions within an imaging screen.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: a face detecting circuit 121 for detecting a specific subject within an imaging screen and outputting subject area information and detection reliability; and an image correlation tracking circuit 123 for tracking an arbitrary subject on the basis of correlation property between frames of a moving image. When the tracked subject identified by the image correlation tracking circuit 123 and the detected subject (face) detected by the face detecting circuit 121 satisfy predetermined continuous conditions, the tracking operation is shifted to that conducted by the face detecting circuit 121, considering the tracked subjects to be identical to the detected subject. |
