PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device capable of reliably holding data in units of sub-sectors on a buffer memory prior to RMW processing without causing a reduction in processing efficiency.SOLUTION: A data storage control device comprises a host interface controller and a controller. The host interface controller receives first data in predetermined units from a host and stores the first data in a buffer memory. The controller generates second data on the basis of the first data stored in the buffer memory and executes control for writing the second data into a nonvolatile storage medium. The controller generates the second data consisting of a second format that has the same size as that of a first format of data recorded in a normal area set in the nonvolatile storage medium and includes a plurality of units of first data and invalid data, and executes control for writing the second data in a save area set in the nonvolatile storage medium.
