PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify structure and to reduce cost.SOLUTION: A paper feeder includes: a storing part body for storing a medium; a first guide member that is disposed to freely move in a width direction of the medium, positioned so as to correspond to the size and direction of the stored medium, and regulates movement in the width direction of the medium in the storing part body; a second guide member that is disposed to freely move in a feeding direction of the medium, positioned so as to correspond to the size and direction of the stored medium, and regulates movement in the feeding direction of the medium in the storing part body; a moving member that is disposed to freely move operatively linked to the first and second guide members; and an index detection part that detects the moving amount of the moving member as an index showing the size and direction of the medium. When the moving member moves operatively linked to the first and second guide members, the moving amount of the moving member is detected by the index detection part, so that the size and direction of the medium can be detected only by disposing one index detection part. |
