The device (15) has an ultrasonic wave transmitting unit (3a) for transmitting ultrasonic waves into an inner space of a reactor pressure vessel (1) and mounted on an outer surface of the pressure vessel. An ultrasonic wave receiving unit (3b) receives ultrasonic pulses reflected from an examination object (2) in the pressure vessel. A calculating unit (5) detects vibrations of the examination object from a pulse signal converted or reflected from a pre-processing unit (4) based on an observation point of time of the examination object. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring vibrations on an examination object in a reactor pressure vessel.
