PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate composition that comprises titanium dioxide of high purity and is thus capable of yielding fine barium titanate through a solid phase reaction, a method for manufacturing the particulate composition, and a dispersion of the particulate composition.SOLUTION: A particulate composition has a fine primary particle size (the specific surface area is 15-350 m/g), hardly contains any impurities that affect dielectric property of barium titanate and shows good dispersibility. The particulate composition is obtained by treating with a surfactant that is free of impurities that affect the dielectric property of barium titanate, suppresses agglomeration of titanium dioxide upon drying by steric hindrance derived from its molecular structure and enables the titanium dioxide to exert its dispersibility when it is once dried and subsequently converted into a water slurry. |
