PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a butt joining method for dissimilar metals capable of melt-joining a metal essentially composed of copper and zinc and a metal essentially composed of iron at high joining strength.SOLUTION: In a butt joining method for dissimilar metals, regarding a metal essentially composed of copper and zinc and a metal essentially composed of iron, the edge faces are butted each other to form a butted boundary, the vicinity of the butted boundary is irradiated with a beam having high energy density to form a joined part, and the metal essentially composed of the copper and the zinc and the metal essentially composed of the iron are joined via the joined part. The position of the irradiation center of the beam having high energy is decided to the surface of the metal essentially composed of the copper and the zinc, being far from the butted boundary, and the part adjacent to the butted boundary of the metal essentially composed of the copper and the zinc is melted to form the joined part having a melted structure of the metal essentially composed of the copper and the zinc. |
