PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of restoring an image density of an original document on a document which has been output having the image density thereof decreased with respect to the original document, and certainly outputting the density restored printed matter.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus reads an image of a document, and determines whether or not the read document image includes a barcode image having density reduction information indicating the document has been printed out having the image density thereof reduced to a predetermined density with respect to the original document. When the document image includes the barcode image, a first density amplification image is formed on the basis of the density reduction information to print on the document so as to restore an image density of the original document on the document. In a case when a document conveyance error is generated when executing print processing of the first density amplification image on the document, a second density amplification image is formed on the basis of the density reduction information to print on a blank sheet so as to restore the image density of the original document on the blank sheet, and the original document is restored by printing the second density amplification image on the blank sheet. |
