PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pipe water heater that has improved maintainability when a plumber mistakenly connect a supply pipe and a return pipe for communication between a heat pump heat source and a hot water storage tank.SOLUTION: A heat pump water heater includes: a three-way valve 10 for switching paths to flow hot water heated by a heat pump heat source 2 to an upper side of a hot water storage tank 1 or to a lower side of the hot water storage tank 1; and a control means 14. The heat pump water heater automatically switches the three-way valve 10 to flow the hot water heated by the heat pump heat source 2 to the upper side of the hot water storage tank 1 when the temperature of the hot water does not rise to a predetermined temperature after heating within a predetermined period from the start of a heating operation to heat hot water in the hot water storage tank 1 by the heat pump heat source 2 and return the heated hot water to the hot water storage tank 1. |
