PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a sufficient area as a subtitle display area.SOLUTION: A reproduction device of the present technology obtains information indicating an effective picture frame placement position including a first offset value used to find the top position of an effective picture frame for left eye and right eye images, a second offset value used to find the bottom position of the effective picture frame, and a third offset value used to find the top position of the effective picture frame after being moved, by reading out of recording medium a play list file which contains that information in an extension region as separate information from table information which includes subtitle stream PID, and then executes processing on it. The effective picture frame is designed to be relocatable so that a subtitle region in same width as a subtitle region formed above the effective picture frame is formed below the effective picture frame, and that a subtitle region in same width as a subtitle region formed below the effective picture frame is formed above the effective picture frame. The present technology can be applied to a BD player.
